Lizzie's Poem: Unimaginable

Just when we thought
he had forgotten

the singer
cast their names

out over the dark
sea of people

He spoke the name of the woman
who had
slipped into death
with bewildered grace.

He spoke the name of the man
who had fiercely
cradled her.

Like a rich
warm
cloak
their names settled around us

Their love together
known
in an instant

In that moment
something
unimaginable
happened

Joy
seeping in

where
moments before

darkness
reigned.
